Homebrew beer #1 : Morgan’s Stockmans Draught
Posted on | September 12, 2009 | No Comments
Morgan’s Stockmans Draught is the kit I used for my first ever homebrew beer. I added 1kg of brewing sugar, and used the lager yeast supplied with the kit.
I left the beer to ferment for 14 days - this was not intentional, ideally I would have bottled it earlier. When being bottled into plastic 750ml bottles, I added brewing sugar to prime, and the fizz of the beer is just right.
I tried the beer 14 days after being bottled, and it tasted great. Slightly thin in body, refreshing and nutty in taste, Stockman’s Draught is much more of a flavoursome lager than than most commerical lagers, almost 30% ale and 70% lager tasting.
I am now leaving the bottles to mature, after which I will jot down my full tasting notes.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups spread on toast

This morning I was feeling a little worse for wear after a heavy night on the booze. I went to the local shop to buy the Sunday papers, and saw some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups which I just had to buy.
On returning home, a toast and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups marriage was made.
Kentucky GRILLED Chicken comes to the US

Man I love KFC chicken… I probably have it twice or so a year, and even then it feels like that’s too much for my arteries. So to my delight, KFC have thought about putting on some healthier options and have unveiled Kentucky Grilled Chicken in the US.
Check out the KGC here
As you will see from the website, the calorie, fat, and salt content is massively reduced to KFC’s fried chicken.
Really want this in the UK!
Badger Pumpkin Ale (Halloween Special)
Posted on | October 31, 2008 | No Comments
Last night I was lucky enough to try Badger’s seasonal bottled beer, Pumpkin Ale (4.6 ABV). Badger Pumpkin ale contains hints of roast pumpkin, cloves and peat, and is only available for limited time.
On tasting, Pumpkin Ale definitely does have a delicate aroma and taste of pumpkin which is spiced up with cinnamon, coriander, and clove notes. The beer has a good lasting white head, and is a little fizzy. I really enjoyed this beer, and will hopefully have a couple over the Halloween weekend. Pumpkin Ale is fairly sweet which means could get a little sickly after a couple so be careful.
You can buy the beer from most large supermarkets, and through Badgers Direct. If you fancy checking out more beer reviews, and fancy submitting your own visit Good Beer Online.
Description from Badger:
“This limited edition bottled Badger beer is a superior blend of sweet vegetables, warming spices and bitter ale - a delicious concoction for those cool autumnal evenings.
‘Supernaturally spiced’ Pumpkin Ale (4.6% ABV) is a sweet and slightly smoky ale, especially recommended for accompanying pumpkin pie, sticky toffee apples and carrot cake. The back label of the bottle also features a recipe for a delicious Pumpkin Ale Soup.”
