New design for proevonews.co.uk
Posted on | July 24, 2009 | 1 Comment
ProEvoNews.co.uk has gone through a feew design changes in the past couple of months…
First of all I made a blog style template that was simple to read, familer, and good for Adsense adverts. Then I thought I should make all thie articles on the site more accessable by using ‘Featured boxes’ around the homepage.
Taking inspiration from the awesome Woothemes Wordpress designs, I created a template that would push every article to the reader’s attention, without making them spasm. I launched the new design with glee, but then realised the more complicated the template, the more complicated the publishing. Unfortunantly I couldn’t spend as much time or follow up to improve this this design as I’d liked…. SO…
Last week I realised that that this design was a bit rubbish. I’ve recently recruited some new writers for the blog, so I thought I would good to revert back to simple, blog like site. So far I’ve had good feedback from the usual visitors, and to be honest, whatever happens, you can’t go wrong when being simple
Let me know what you think of the new design…
Spurs 4 - 0 Dinamo Zagreb (+ Video Highlights)
Posted on | November 7, 2008 | No Comments
What a game! Tottenham played Dinamo Zagreb at the Lane last night, and frankly the players oozed confidence and flair, and really look like a new team compared to two weeks ago.
Our midfield was quite clearly the star of the show, stopping Dinamo Zagreb from playing their game, and linking Bent up to score a hat trick. I was really impressed with Tom Huddlestone, and what a goal!
This 4-0 rout will really fill the team with a lot of confidence which will be vital for Sunday’s match against Man City at Eastlands.
Below are highlights from last night’s game against Tottenham and Dinamo Zagreb. Be sure to check out Huddlestone’s goal at 2:00 secs in. (The clip may not be around for long!)

What a week for Tottenham
Posted on | October 31, 2008 | No Comments
Well I’ve been meaning to write a post about the whirlwind week at Tottenham for a while now, but every time I went to there seemed to be some new news! So before the weekend game against Liverpool, I thought I’d write about everything that has gone on in the past week.
Hail Harry! - Well well well. I woke up Sunday morning, the sun was shining, the air was crisp, and Comolli was out. Bliss. I’m pretty sure most Spurs fans were happy with the sacking of Ramos, Comolli, and Poyet thanks to a English football legend coming in to take the Spurs reigns. Personally I always thought we should have give Ramos a chance, at least until the new year as I don’t feel the awful recent form has been all his fault. But to be honest, getting Harry in means a whole fresh new start for the team, the fans, and the club. Good times.
First win! - The game against Bolton was crucial for us if we were to ever stop being the laughing stock of the league, and thankfully the team did well. Maybe it was just a physiological boost with Harry coming in that motivated the players, or Harry really did work some magic, but whatever happened it was good to see a win, a clean sheet, and Pavlyuchenko getting his first league goal.
What a derby! - Hang on, did that game really just happen?! Whoa what a game, quite possibly the best derby in the past decade, and surely one of the best games we’ll see in the Premiership this season. Great goals all round (I was more impressed with Modric’s strike that hit the post than Bentley’s awesome long ranger), brilliant atmosphere, and a great life for Tottenham. I really can’t describe how good it felt for Spurs fans when the full time whistle blew.
A new ground! - And to top the week off, we see that Tottenham are looking to get a new 60,000 seater stadium! It will be a shame to move away from the lane, however the extra revenue will mean we can progress further as a club.
Ramos could be safe - Comolli could be out

Okay so you know it’s bad when the BBC Football website have a small section dedicated on the front-page to one team, and unfortunately in this case it’s Tottenham’s turn (see image).
So after the awful defeat at Stoke, it looks like it’s going to be in a roller-coaster couple of weeks ahead for Tottenham fans with a UEFA game looming this Thursday, an away game to Bolton on Sunday, all the newspaper talk of Ramos being sacked, and now quite believable reports that Damien Comolli could be sacked very soon, hopefully before Juande Ramos!
I’m all for Ramos staying for the season, unless the situation has not improved by Christmas as we’d really in relegation trouble by then and it’s going to be very hard keeping the faith. But I do truly believe that if the board can oust Comolli, open up their wallets in January, and give the fans a break by lowering ticket prices, then I think we could have a better season than is coming to be expected.
Talks of Slaven Bilic coming to White Hart Lane are just the standard newspaper affair, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the new manager by Christmas if Ramos and the team can’t pull it together.
Spurs to play Udinese, Dinamo Zagreb, NEC, Spartak in UEFA Cup
Posted on | October 7, 2008 | 1 Comment
The UEFA Cup draw has been announced today and it seems that Tottenham have got quite a tricky group. The group fixtures are as follows:
- 23 Oct: Udinese v Spurs
- 6 Nov: Spurs v Dinamo Zagreb
- 27 Nov: NEC v Spurs
- 18 Dec: Spurs v Spartak
Okay it could have been worse, we could have been drawn with AC Milan (good luck Pompy!), PSG, Ajax, or Martin Jol’s table topping Hamburg, but I think we have quite a challenge ahead of us as the teams we are drawn with have pretty good UEFA Cup legacy.
Interesting to see that we are playing Spartak Moscow, the team who Roman Pavlyuchenko came from - unfortunately he cannot play as he is cup tied. Shame really as this could have given him an ejection of passion that would be good for him right now.
Old Comolli was pretty positive in thinking that Spurs can improve and will qualify for the knockout stages.
“I am sure we will do well,” Comolli told BBC Sport. “The players are highly motivated about the UEFA Cup.
“We are not getting the results we thought we would get. But it is not time to be pointing fingers at anyone.
“Whenever you enter a competition, you are confident you will do well. I am sure we will improve in the Premier League and can use the Uefa Cup to get our confidence back.”
So, bring on the 23rd of October!
Tottenham 3rd kit - Black
Posted on | October 7, 2008 | No Comments
This season Tottenham have been wearing their black third kit in Europe and I must say I really like it. The shirt has provoked a mix response from Spurs fans as the colour black has nothing to do with Tottenham’s tradition or legacy, but I really think it’s a nice addition to the Puma range.
The black shirt has nice collar detail and a cool couple of stripes down the right side only which makes it stand out a little. Needless to say, official stockists have sold out but you can still see it for sale on places like ebay and general shirt sellers websites. Like the chocolate brown third kit of two seasons back, people are selling the black shirt for over inflated prices.
The one thing I don’t like about the shirt is the corporate leaching Chinese text on the front, but hey, the money has to come from somewhere!
What do you think of the black shirt?
