Tottenham 3rd kit – Black

Posted on | October 7, 2008 | No Comments

This season Tottenham have been wearing their black third kit in Europe and I must say I really like it. The shirt has provoked a mix response from Spurs fans as the colour black has nothing to do with Tottenham’s tradition or legacy, but I really think it’s a nice addition to the Puma range.

The black shirt has nice collar detail and a cool couple of stripes down the right side only which makes it stand out a little. Needless to say, official stockists have sold out but you can still see it for sale on places like ebay and general shirt sellers websites. Like the chocolate brown third kit of two seasons back, people are selling the black shirt for over inflated prices.

The one thing I don’t like about the shirt is the corporate leaching Chinese text on the front, but hey, the money has to come from somewhere!

What do you think of the black shirt?

Tottenham through to the UEFA group stage

Well done Spurs! Although it wasn’t a convincing result (one own-goal for us, and a defensive slip-up leading to Krakow’s) goal, we are still though and that’s all that matters.

Sounds like Bale played well, and Campbell was influential in getting the own-goal by Krakow. So this is a positive result, but I still think we have a lot of possession and defensive work to do if we want to improve our league position.

Ramos has a big point to prove

Okay so winning the Carling Cup was great, just what Tottenham needed (not forgetting the 5-1 defeat of the Arscum), but Ramos has not actually been as effective as the media, and the fans may think.

Last season, Ramos’ league win ratio was actually far worse than Martin Jol’s at any time.  This season is Tottenham’s worst start in 53 years.  Okay some silverware is good, and you can’t forget we played amazingly throughout the Carling Cup campaingn, but it seems that Ramos has not quite got his grip on getting out a good team, week in, week out, that can stand hard in the Premiership.

This season, Ramos is rotating players left right and centre, which is kinda ridiculous considering the team has not really put a convincing team performance out there yet, and the management is telling the ans it could take 12-15 weeks for the team to gel.

I think all Ramos needs is a bit of balls.  Why not stick two strikers upfront?  Why not play Bentley where he likes to play?  Why not make the defensive marking more tight?  ETC ETC ETC.

Come on Ramos – listen while everyone is being friendly, don’t become the next Christian GROSS (who actually has a better league win ratio than Ramos so far!)

Pathetic play from Spurs today

Posted on | September 28, 2008 | No Comments

So we lost our  ‘must win game’ at Portsmouth today 2-0 which has mad some of the fans pretty angry and very frustrated.  Chants directed at Juande Ramos were harsh (“You don’t know what you’re doing”), but expected now that we have played six games and only got two points, which our our worst league start in 53 years!

Today Tottenham looked weak, uninspired, and dull.  There was absolutely spark on the final third of the pitch from us, with Pavy playing up there by him self.  Lennon was alright, and yeah we should have got a penalty, but that’s about it.

We were bad, and it’s frustrating that for a team that desperatly needs to gel, Ramos keeps rotating the players each game – six players changed since the Newcastle game.

I think Ramos will be sweating a little this week once the press sets in, but I say give him the season anyway and I’m sure he’ll, and the team, will come good.

Portsmouth v Tottenham – Must win game

Posted on | September 27, 2008 | 1 Comment

If you didn’t know already, I’m a Spurs fan.  This Sunday we are playing Portsmouth at Fratton Park, and this is a game we must win if we are looking to improve on our pretty diabolical season so far.  Portsmouth have recently been whipped by Man City (6-0) and Chelsea (4-0) so they are currently on a run of big losses, hopefully we can capitalise on this.

We need to win this game for a little bit of confidence around the players which will in turn help them to gel as a team unit.  With all the new summer signings we have become a team which is still figuring out how to play best, and it seems like it will take the entire first half of the season to achive this.

It will be nice to see old Spurs boy Jermaine Defoe playing who seems to be on pretty good form at the moment, hopefully Darren Bent can prove himself against Defoe by scoring a couple.
