Beer in the garden after a weekend in Ludlow

Posted on | August 1, 2010 | No Comments

Just back from a fun weekend in Ludlow, having a beer in a pretty garden after a fairly long journey home.

Ludlow is a fantastic place if you’re into your food and drink, so many good local food suppliers and exquisite restaurants.

Also, this post has a purpose, I’m composing it via the WordPress app on my iPhone. The photo you can see was also taken in app, geotagged and everything (although since I have no mobile reception it’s not working right now).

More posts coming next week.

Still no word on 4od coming to iPhone

Posted on | January 3, 2009 | 5 Comments

Channel 4 have not been in contact after I have sent three emails to various people asking for more details on 4od coming to the Apple iPhone.

4od is Channel 4′s ‘catch up’ service that is available on the web and through digital TV services.  However, unlike the awesome BBC iPlayer, 4od is not accessible through the iPhone, and other mobile devices.

I would love to see the 4od service come to the iPhone, so I have gone on a mission to speak to someone at Channel 4 to find out what their plans are for the service, but so far I have had nothing but a generic, ‘drone’ response.

Stay tunes for more information since I am in the process of writing a mammoth letter to someone in Channel 4, someone who I have been told can actually answer something more coherently than a call centre worker.

Channel 4 are vague on whether 4oD will be released for iPhone

Posted on | November 13, 2008 | 3 Comments

After writing the article on whether the an iPhone version of the TV catch-up service 4oD will be released, I emailed Channel 4 to get their statement on the issue. They did get back to me, however they gave me quite a vague, standard reply as follows:

Thank you for your email regarding 4oD.

We are currently considering various options to make 4oD available to non-Windows users, however, unfortunately we cannot say when the 4oD service will be available to users of other platforms.

Thank you for your comments. We at Channel 4 are always looking to improve our service and you  feedback is greatly appreciated.

I can understand that Channel 4 must get a lot of emails requesting information on whether 4oD will get released on Mac formats, so I was expecting a response like this. I will email another department of Channel 4 to see whether I can get more information.

Channel 4′s 4oD on Apple iPhone

4oD for iphone

4oD for iphone

I have to say, the Apple iPhone is a brilliant piece of kit, I never thought that I would use it for so many different things.  Apart from working, I have dramatically stopped using my laptop as much as I previously did thanks to the iPhone having a great browser, video, and music capabilities.

One thing I use the iPhone for a lot is the BBC iPlayer.  I never got round to watching iPlayer on my laptop, but with the iPhone I can watch BBC programmer wherever I am, be it the kitchen, sitting room, bed, garden etc!

One thing that I am disappointed with so far is that Channel 4 have not made 4oD available on the iPhone.  BBC have made a specific version of the iPlayer especially for iPhone which works a treat, but Channel 4 have so far not made anything like this.

Also, Channel 4 have not released any plans to  release an iPhone version of the 4oD player as of yet.  I’ve made it my self interest now to keep on track of any news on a 4oD player for the iPhone, and I will write to Channel 4 to see if I can gather any more info.

In case someone at Channel 4 reads this, then please write if you want an iPhone version of 4oD in the comments below.

My first post from an iPhone

So here we are! I got an iPhone at the weekend and downloaded the WordPress app which allows you to post to a WordPress blog with almost full functionality.

The iPhone keyboard is pretty good once you start getting used to it, and means you can keep your blog updated from almost anywhere that has mobile reception. Good work WordPress
