The UEFA Cup draw has been announced today and it seems that Tottenham have got quite a tricky group. The group fixtures are as follows:

  • 23 Oct: Udinese v Spurs
  • 6 Nov: Spurs v Dinamo Zagreb
  • 27 Nov: NEC v Spurs
  • 18 Dec: Spurs v Spartak

Okay it could have been worse, we could have been drawn with AC Milan (good luck Pompy!), PSG, Ajax, or Martin Jol’s table topping Hamburg, but I think we have quite a challenge ahead of us as the teams we are drawn with have pretty good UEFA Cup legacy.

Interesting to see that we are playing Spartak Moscow, the team who Roman Pavlyuchenko came from – unfortunately he cannot play as he is cup tied. Shame really as this could have given him an ejection of passion that would be good for him right now.

Old Comolli was pretty positive in thinking that Spurs can improve and will qualify for the knockout stages.

“I am sure we will do well,” Comolli told BBC Sport. “The players are highly motivated about the UEFA Cup.

“We are not getting the results we thought we would get. But it is not time to be pointing fingers at anyone.

“Whenever you enter a competition, you are confident you will do well. I am sure we will improve in the Premier League and can use the Uefa Cup to get our confidence back.”

So, bring on the 23rd of October!
