Why can’t I rank well in Google for my own name – William Gardner
Posted on | January 3, 2009 | 3 Comments
When I first started off this blog, I was ranking second and/or third for my name William Gardner. The reason I was not ranked first was because some baby who has the same name as me decided to setup a 1998-style website and use the domain www.williamgardner.co.uk – something that obviously helps him rank as top dog.
The funny thing is, now I rank about 29th for the phrase William Gardner, which is odd, since IT IS MY name and my domain is fairly friendly for that particular term.
Anyway, no bother, REALLY, I don’t care, that baby can take the number one spot, honestly I DON’T CARE. Honestly.
The battle continues…

You need to optimise your site around your name as the main keyword. Then in-bound links as well as fresh regular content will get you ranked for your name. Can take a while. Good luck
